Underpining everything we do is Te Pou Mataaho, our model of practice developed specifically for Te Tohu o Te Ora o Ngāti Awa guiding our delivery of services.

Our framework plays an integral part towards creating a culture of confidence and understanding within the organisation of Ngāti Awatanga and Te Ao Māori.

In order to embed and reinforce the principles of Te Pou Mataaho we under take regular 2 Day wānanga or otherwise training where we identify and explore in more detail indivdual “Pou” amongst other topics.

These wānanga are scheduled quarterly and are usually around our Ngāti Awa marae and in doing so we as an organisation can establish, strengthen and maintain connectedness to our wider community. Furthermore we are able to learn about our wider whakapapa links and history of our respective marae.

We were fortunate to hold our recent Te Pou Mataaho Wānanga at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi. This wānanga was focused around our Ngāti Awa entities.

Staff were privileged to gain deeper insights into the impactful mahi of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Awa, Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi, and TumekeFM.

Through inspiring kōrero and presentations by their respective CE's, staff learned about each organisation’s kaupapa, vision, and the vital role they play in strengthening whānau, culture, and community wellbeing.
