We are expanding our Finance team and have a new opportunity for two full-time permanent Financial Accountants to join us here in Whakatāne. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and high-quality reporting across the organisation’s group-level finances, assets, and funding contracts.
We’re open to applicants at an emerging or senior level, and we’ll tailor the role to the strengths and experience of the successful candidate.
Your Key Accountabilities:
- Lead month-end, year-end, and annual reporting processes, including audit support and financial statement preparation.
- Deliver accurate monthly management reporting, variance analysis, and financial insights to support decision-making.
- Maintain general ledger integrity and support group entity, treasury, and board reporting activities.
- Manage contract and grant reporting, claims, compliance, and revenue recognition requirements.
- Support statutory obligations, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and expenditure monitoring.
- Oversee fixed assets, financial systems, and continuous improvement in reporting and controls.
- Build strong relationships across the organisation and with key external stakeholders.

You bring strong analytical ability and the confidence to turn financial information into clear, practical insights. With your effective communication skills, a collaborative approach, and a focus on continuous improvement, you’ll be comfortable working across systems, stakeholders, and priorities.
You will also have:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- A CA, CPA, or equivalent qualification, or be working towards one for emerging candidates
- Experience in financial accounting, reporting, and compliance
- Strong knowledge of New Zealand accounting standards and tax requirements
- Capability in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Strong Excel and accounting system skills; Sage Intacct experience is an advantage
- A genuine commitment to supporting whānau prosperity and engaging in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga
